We at Baxter Springs Middle School recognize each child as a unique, individual human being, each with his or her own specific strengths and needs. It is our mission to reach out to each student where they are, and to help them recognize, develop, and apply lifelong academic, social, emotional, and physical skills through a caring and nurturing learning environment.

We believe that students need to learn and practice decision-making skills, accountability, and problem solving both academically and socially. Kansas state standards help support these high expectations and ongoing assessment, both informal and formal, help students, parents, and teachers monitor success and adjust as needed.

Our philosophy and vision embrace the ideas of students, parents, teachers, administrators, community members and support staff. We believe this partnership will help us form a sharper focus on teaching and learning.
